Back in style. Eleven years later, Dakota Jones has triumphed again in Transvulcania. The American runner did not have it easy. Alongside him, some of the best trail runners in the world took the start of the Ultramarathon at the Faro de Fuencaliente lighthouse. However, he did it again and was the first to cross the finish line in Los Llanos de Aridane, in a time of 07:02:16. The second to complete the 72 kilometres of the race, stopping the clock in 07:10:16, was the Frenchman Damien Humbert, also second in the Vertical Challenge, the inaugural race of the event, held last Thursday in Tazacorte. Italian Andreas Reiterer completed the podium at 07 hours 17 minutes 26 seconds after taking the start at 6am at the Faro de Fuencaliente lighthouse.

In the women's category, Martina Valmassoi was the winner of the main event with a time of 09:09:13. The Italian runner, winner of the UTMB® Mont-Blanc TDS last August in Chamonix, entered the finish line after three o'clock in the afternoon, acclaimed by an enthusiastic public. Behind her, and after having to abandon the last edition of Transvulcania by UTMB®, came Poland's Edyta Lewandowska, with a time of 09:21:40, finally fulfilling her dream of standing on the podium on La Isla Bonita. Third place was completed by the South African Meg Mackenzie arriving at Los Llanos de Aridane 09 hours 28 minutes 06 seconds after the start.

Volcanes, the distance previously known as the Marathon, started at 9:00 a.m. This thirteenth edition of Transvulcania, the second under the UTMB® seal, had a new course.

Andre Rodrigues took second place in 04:28:26, and Yoel de Paz, winner of this distance in October 2022, came in third, stopping the clock in 04:32:57.

El Roque also has its own names, Leire Fernández and Josep Miret.

The latest of the three races, El Roque, started at 9:30 a.m. from the El Roque de Los Muchachos Visitors' Centre, at an altitude of over 2,000 metres, in what is one of the highest starts in the world. The cold and humidity were the protagonists during the first kilometres of the race, to then move on to the heat of Tazacorte and the Barranco de las Angustias, in a demanding and complicated race for the runners, due to the difference in temperatures.

After a course of 28 kilometres, Josep Miret was proclaimed the winner of the race, after finishing second last year, with a time of 02:08:03. Borja Fernández Fernández Fernández came in second place, 2 hours 11 minutes 35 seconds after starting the race, and Eloy Ramos Hernández was third, with a time of 02:12:40.

Leire Fernández took first place in El Roque, repeating the victory she achieved last year in the race known as the Half Marathon. The Basque runner, who also won the Vertical Challenge last Thursday, was the first woman to reach the finish line, completing the distance in 02:35:43. Marta Pérez Maroto was second, in 02:44:00, while Andrea Rico came in third with a time of 02:55:26.

Transvulcania by UTMB® 2023 has already engraved its names and surnames, in what has undoubtedly been an outstanding edition.
