The event, which will be held from 4 to 6 May 2023, will open for registration on 22nd November at 11:00 CET.

It's official. Transvulcania returns to its usual date. From the 4th to the 6th of May 2023 the island of La Palma will once again welcome its most international trail race. Seven months later, Transvulcania by UTMB® returns with new surprises and some modifications that aim to improve the experience of the runners and add emotion and beauty to a competition that is still in its infancy.

Pre-sale period begins on 22nd November

Next Tuesday 22nd November, at 11:00 hours (CET time, local time in Barcelona and Paris, 10:00 hours in the Canary Islands), the registration period to take part in a new edition of Transvulcania by UTMB® 2023 will begin.

Runners with a valid UTMB® Index will be the first to be able to formalise their registration, benefiting from a 48-hour early registration period. From Thursday 24 November at 11:00 CET, registration will be open to all other runners.

The Marathon and the Half Marathon change names

After the success of its first edition, Transvulcania by UTMB® returns with new features that aim to make this event an unforgettable experience.

In order to avoid confusion regarding their respective distances, the Half Marathon, of 28 kilometres, is now called El Roque, in reference to the place where the race starts.

Volcanes is the new name for the former Marathon, a 48 kilometre race, with a 2,850 metre positive and 2,500 metre negative elevation gain, which has a new route, starting at El Faro de Fuencaliente, at sea level, and finishing in Los Llanos de Aridane, after crossing the impressive route of the volcanoes. The Ultra, El Roque and the Vertical Challenge remain unchanged. Transvulcania by UTMB® is thus preparing for a new historic edition, with a return to its original date and a series of modifications with which it intends to continue improving and consolidating itself as an unmissable event on the trail running circuit.
