Transvulcania by UTMB® presents the official poster of the 2023 edition

The poster of the event will be a tribute to the island's natural environment and banana cultivation.

The thirteenth edition of Transvulcania, the second under the UTMB® seal, already has an image. From the 4th to the 6th of May 2023, the island of La Palma will once again welcome its most international trail running event.

On Tuesday 27th February the official poster of the event was presented, which pays tribute to the natural environment of the Isla Bonita. A tribute to the cultivation of bananas and its volcanoes. Two very special elements that define the island of La Palma and its people.

Four distances to choose from

The event, which will be held for the second year under the UTMB® seal, will have four distances in its programme. The Ultra , 72km with 4,600m+ and 4,300m-, will start in the early hours of Saturday morning from the Faro de Fuencaliente lighthouse to Los Llanos de Aridane. A circuit that runs through the most popular trails of the island, the GR-131 and GR-130, known as the Ruta del Bastón and the Camino Real de la Costa. From sea level to the highest point on the island of La Palma, the Roque de los Muchachos. Demanding and tough, but unforgettable.

Volcanes , which is the name given to what used to be known as the marathon, will have a renewed and unprecedented 48km route, with 2,850m+ and 2,500m-. Starting at the Fuencaliente lighthouse and finishing in Los Llanos de Aridane, it crosses the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park and the Teneguía Volcanoes Natural Monument, along the famous La Palma Volcanoes route.

The Roque and Roque Promesas will start from the Roque de los Muchachos, at an altitude of more than 2,420 metres. The races run along part of the edge of the Caldera de Taburiente and descend very steeply almost to sea level in just 28km, with a positive difference in altitude of 840m and a negative difference in altitude of 2,932m.

The ** Vertical Challenge** will open the event on 4 May at 20:30h. A sprint competition in which participants will complete an ascent of 1.5km with 250m+ from the beach of Tazacorte to the Mirador de la Punta, from where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the coast. Registration for the Transvulcania by UTMB® will be open until the 4th of April or until the race is sold out.
