Circular economy and social work give a second life to Transvulcania by UTMB® advertising posters

Thanks to the Centro Ocupacional La Tisera, and in collaboration with the Isonorte Foundation and the "la Caixa" Foundation through CaixaBank, the tarpaulins from the first edition of Transvulcania by UTMB®️ continue to be useful, converted into original bags.

Committed to society and the environment. Trasnvulcania by UTMB® gives a second life to the advertising panels of the first edition. These posters have been used to make original bags which have been presented at the Centro Ocupacional La Tisera.

The event was attended by Mariano Hernández Zapata, president of the Cabildo de La Palma; the councillor for Economic Promotion and Employment of the Cabildo de La Palma, Raquel Díaz; Gwen Trujillo Suárez, director of the CaixaBank branch in San Andrés y Sauces; Eduardo Javier Calderón Piñero, president of the Fundación Canaria ISONORTE and Xavier Pocino, CEO of UTMB® Iberia.

The action was carried out by the Centro Ocupacional La Tisera, established in 1997 to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities in the north-eastern region of the island of La Palma. Eduardo Javier Calderón Piñero, president of the Canarian Foundation ISONORTE to which the Centro Ocupacional La Tisera belongs, has highlighted that "The circular economy is one of the pillars of the work of ISONORTE, both in the Occupational Centres with people with intellectual disabilities, as well as in the Insertion Company. There is still a lot of potential to be exploited in the circular economy on the island of La Palma to generate employment, especially in the repair to extend the useful life of many everyday materials such as the case of the reused advertising tarpaulins of Transvulcania by UTMB®".

With this action it has been possible to give a longer life cycle to materials which, a priori, were destined for disuse. The organisation of Transvulcania by UTMB® is aware of the importance of caring for the natural environment and so they are working towards sustainability by carrying out environmental measures such as the reduction of plastics, adding the reusable cup for each runner in the obligatory material, using recycled and reusable materials in the refreshment posts, or removing the signage as soon as possible at the end of the event, among many others.
